Sparkling Wines - Types of Grapes
Most sparkling wines are made by blending Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, with a typical ratio of 60% to 40%. This combination results in a high-quality sparkling wine with a smooth and balanced texture. On the other hand, Blanc de blancs are made exclusively from 100% Chardonnay grapes, resulting in a very fresh and light sparkling wine.
Blanc de noirs champagnes, on the other hand, are made with 100% Pinot Noir or red grapes, which are subjected to a specific fast pressing technique to avoid the red color staining the extracted must. This results in a high-quality sparkling wine with a smooth and creamy texture and a delicate and fruity flavor.
